The difference between Stainless Steel bearings and Chrome Steel bearings

Mechanical properties of stainless steel bearing materials and ordinary bearing materials.

Stainless steel bearings include: 440C, 420,304, 316 and 316 material, to compare with Chrome Steel bearings, we need to put aside the rust-proof ability of the bearing, because ordinary bearings basically have no anti-rust ability, so we have to consider the mechanical properties of stainless steel bearings.

From the perspective of solving corrosion problems, let’s make a basic summary of stainless steel bearings.

  1. Stainless steel bearings made of 420 or 440C material: solve the problem of environmental humidity, water vapor and other water vapor or water mist corrosion.
  2. Stainless steel bearings made of 304 material: solve the (immersion/non-immersion) weak acid-base or strong acid-base corrosion.
  3. Stainless steel bearings made of 316 material: solve the strong acid and alkali corrosion (immersion/non-immersion).
  4. Stainless steel bearings made of 316L material: solve other special strong acid and alkali corrosion (immersion/non-immersion), such as seawater corrosion, strong acid and alkali corrosion such as chlorine-containing solutions.

The carbon content of stainless steel bearings gradually decreases from 420, 440, 304, 316, to 316L material, so the hardness of the corresponding material and finally the mechanical properties of the bearing also gradually decrease.
